GrandWest

The Grandwest Group traces its origins back to 2004 when the first Grandwest company was formed to operate time-chartered reefer vessels.  When we first started out we specialised in the transportation of frozen meat from Brazil, the USA, Argentina, Uruguay and the EU to countries in Africa and Europe. Within a year, the Grandwest Group was a major player in the global reefer market and between 2006 and 2010 it was the world’s largest transporter of frozen meat.

From 2010, with containerised volumes increasing, the conventional reefer market changed significantly and with these changes, Grandwest changed its strategy. From 2014 onwards it has been focused entirely on the dry bulk sector. Currently Grandwest Ltd acts as a holding company for a group of companies involved in the operation of dry cargo vessels with a particular focus on for 20-60.000 tons consignments of cargoes such as fertilizers, grain, scrap metal and coal among others.  The Group is involved in all ancillary activities such as crewing, technical management (including stores and spare parts supply), carrying out technical inspections, repair in dry dock, carrying out pre-purchase vessels surveys, consulting and assistance in the registration of ships, flag administration, obtaining Class Society certificates, ship insurance and the development & implementation of SMS documentation.
